Forklift Masts Akron

Forklift Masts Akron - Akron is Ohio's fifth largest city. With a population of about 199,000, Akron City serves as the county seat of Summit County within the northeastern area of the state within the Great Lakes region. It is situated approximately sixty kms south of Lake Erie along the Little Cuyahoga River. Akron's economic base has changed from heavy manufacturing to research, high technology and financial trades.

The city of Akron was first established in 1825. The city of Akron saw much early growth, as it was positioned at the summit of the Ohio and Erie Canal. From 1860 to 1870, the thriving coal, railroad and manufacturing industries caused another spurt in population growth.

When B.F. Goodrich, during 1969 established the first rubber business in the city of Akron, the city saw its biggest expansion due to the burgeoning rubber industry as General Tire and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company soon followed. The city of Akron soon became known as "The Rubber Capital of the World," and immigrants from Europe flocked there to search for work in the rubber factories. Akron's rubber business declined in the latter part of the 20th century, beat out by better European radial tires. By the 1990's only Goodyear still remained within the city of Akron.

Since that time, Akron City's economy has diversified. There are currently over 400 firms involved with the polymer and liquid crystal business in Akron City. No longer the Rubber Capital, Akron City is now called "The Polymer Valley." Aeronautics and motor vehicle production are other essential businesses. Businesses in the city of Akron make biomedical products, metals, chemicals and plastics. Major employers consist of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Newell Rubber Maid, L'Oreal Cosmetics, Spectrum Brands, First Energy, Lockheed-Martin, RJS Manufacturing and Includis Manufacturing Software.

For individuals with college and university degrees there are jobs for these individuals, like registered nurses, teachers, wholesale and manufacturing sales representatives, mechanical engineers, management analysts, computer applications software engineers, industrial engineers, financial managers, and network and computer systems administrators.

Akron City is able to draw top-notch performances with its three performance halls. The largest of these Halls is the E.J. Thomas Hall, that could seat around 2,950 divided among three tiers. because of the an adjustable counter-weighted ceiling which alters the physical dimensions of the hall giving the hall fine acoustics. Every year 400,000 tourists come to Akron City to see Broadway musicals, comedies, lectures, ballets, and various forms of entertainment. Musical events are provided by Children's Concert Society, Tuesday Musical Club and Akron Symphony Orchestra.
